seasonal changes and workplace safety

It's officially Autumn! The September equinox arrived on September 22, 2016 at 9:21 a.m. CDT - That's today! For us in the Northern Hemisphere, that means the sun is rising later now, and nightfall coming sooner. At Bibbidi HR, we're enjoying the cooler days and looking forward to brisk fall business ahead. With these busier times approaching... now is a good time to review your workplace safety and accident prevention initiatives.
Together with the upcoming time change, an increase in business can lead to more work-related accidents. Studies have shown effects associated with time of work and changing temperatures on worker productivity and workplace injuries. In this month's newsletter, we've included is a risk review on the fundamentals of accident prevention. It's important to be reminded of these points regularly, and we recommend taking a fresh look at your policies and educating all your employees as well. Did you know your employees can quickly access their own pay stub, w2 info, direct deposit, tax set-up and deduction settings?
Once logged into their employee account at ecbibbidi.com - Employees can simply click the "my info" employee icon at top left of the screen. From there they will see, in left navigation bar, information that includes, check history, YTD pay, Direct Deposit and miscellaneous set-up and deductions along with their W2 info. Documents are available for multiple years - a drop down on the right side of the screen allows for selection of year.

Congress officially passed the Small Business Efficiency Act (SBEA), which will become effective on January 1, 2016. This is big news for Bibbidi HR and the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) world.

What Does the SBEA do?
Creates a certification process for PEOs within the IRS;
Gives certified PEOs (CPEOs) the clear statutory authority to collect and remit federal employment taxes;
Eliminates the wage base restart for PEO clients who  join or leave a PEO relationship; and,
Codifies that customers of CPEOs will qualify for specified federal tax credits that the customers would be entitled to claim if there were no PEO relationship.
The passage of the SBEA provides considerable advantages for business owners. While formally and clearly transferring the burden of tax liability from small and mid-­‐size businesses that contract with certified PEOs, the liabilities and fears of navigating through complex tax codes is eliminated for our clients.
